A Christmas Miracle...

...or at least that's what my jumper cable's were referred to today at work. Noticed someone was in need of some when I left work tonight. My cables are the bomb....their car started right away and then it was referred to as "a Christmas Miracle"! haha...Got my good dead in for the year...and good thing since the year is almost up!

Ouch!

If you want to know anything about spontaneous low CSF fluid pressure headaches, please let me know! I got to spend 2 weeks straight on my back reading up about them and then have spent another week so far recovering from the epidural blood patch to fix it.

A huuuge thanks to Jeff for taking off a ton of work, my job for being understanding of my absence, to supportive friends and family, and to my wonderful awsome parents who waited on me hand and foot during recovery. We are very thankful they made the long drive here to basically take care of us for 5 days...cooked, cleaned, grocery shopped, kept my spirits up and much more! THANKS MOM AND DAD!!

I say after this I'll never complain about another headache again...at least not one that I know what the cause and fix is. That was one of the most frustrating things about this...my doctor suspected all along that it was this type of headache but it took awhile to convince the others that that's what it was and that all I needed was the dang blood patch!

Never take your good health for granted!!

No more grays....

....at least for 28 more washes. :-) I'm not brave enough to do the henna but did the box for $6.99! Been about 4 years since I've done a full color change but I like it. Was way overdue for it! "Dark Brown #38" is my new best friend!

(Disclaimer: I don't really look like this photo above. It's been slightly photo shopped...just slightly.)

Merry Sister Weekend in Davenport, IA

Well, I guess I could win the "Bad Blogger of the Year" award with as much slacking I've been doing. ;-) I think there is a way to post-date entries which I'll probably do when I'm done with the handful of ones I want to make.

Mid-July was our annual Merry Sister weekend in Davenport, IA. This was the first time the rest of us got to see Lisa and Brock's new place! She lives in such a neat area and within walking distance of the river. Lisa made us a very nice dinner the first night and the second night we ate at a local bar. She also put us up at Hotel Blackhawk which is affiliated with her apartment complex. It had a nice Martini bar and bowling facilities downstairs. Had lots of fun Friday night with that!! We then went out after that...thought I was too old to stay till "last call" but apparently we did. Probably because we were with our cousin! Saturday we met up with our aunt at Jumers Casino where our uncle's band was playing. Then on the way back, swung by Whitey's for some much needed ice cream. Can't wait to go back and visit Lisa again!

Sorry about your cut off teeth, Katie. As you know, that set of pics was real hard to get!

The Weddings are Complete!

It's been such a busy year for the Merry family...especially for Lisa, Jennifer, MOM, and all who helped make Lisa and Jennifer's weddings the success that they were! I'll jump right in with the fun pictures!

The Merry Sisters at Lisa's wedding.

Getting our nails done for Lisa's.

The awesome paper flower arch. Hand made.

Lisa's cute wedding shoes!

Jennifer's rehearsal dinner at Desthil. Lisa, Katie, and myself all bought the same dress, different color, at Ann Taylor Loft and didn't know it! So, of course we made Megan go out and buy the same one, different color. Too funny!

Lisa and me on the Party Bus. I think we had just taken shots of Arak at that point.

Photo of the wedding party at the Allamo II on the ISU Quad. We weren't sure if the professional photographers where on their way so Barbara got the party bus bus driver to take some pics.

Arriving to the reception after the party bus.

Champagne...probably to chase the arak!

Congratulations to Lisa and Brock and to Jennifer and Matt!!

Congratulations, Jennifer and Matt!

While I didn't capture any photos of the actual ceremony, I thought this was a good one of them in the party bus. The photographers, I'm sure, got good ceremony coverage. And, speaking of that, one of their photographers was a guy who played on Good Morning, Vietnam. Pretty neato, if you ask me! :-)

More pics to come!

Hipstamtic

So, apparently there is an even better app than the Shake It app....it's called the Hipstamatic... Thanks MOM for telling me about it!!

Shake It!

So I was reading another blog and my eye was drawn to some neat photos she had posted. Come to find out, she did it all with the "Shake It" app for the iPhone and it's only 99 cents. Can't pass that up. :-) This app acts as an instant film emulator.

So, Fozzy, like always, was my "Shake It" subject tonight. Don't ask me why he is in the sink. I really wonder what that cat does when he's home alone all day...

Bake Sale

I decided to make some more chocolates for an upcoming Bake Sale at work. It's to benefit March of Dimes March for Babies so I went with a baby theme. The pink bottles are strawberry flavored and the blue are just the normal white chocolate. The white bears are also white chocolate and that will be the last time I make the dang bears. They were a pain!! Their ears and feet are so shallow yet a necessary detail so I couldn't just leave them out! However, it was tricky because when you go to pound the mold on the counter to get the bubbles out, the ears would overflow....ugh. A bit tricky trying to get just the right amount of chocolate in the ears. Never will make those again. The bottles were easy to do but there isn't much chocolate to them. All in all, they were fun to make, but not my best work either.

More chocolates

I decided to make some mints for my Aunt Marie whose birthday is in a week. She didn't get many at the wedding last weekend so I'm sending her some fresh ones. These are so easy to make, with very little clean up. I hope she likes them!

Congratulations, Lisa and Brock!

Kansas City got its first snowfall of the year last night and pretty much its first snowfall of the season. I don't count the dusting we had in Nov/Dec.
I'm not a fan, but it certainly looks pretty and it arrived just in time for me to try out my new tires (which cost an arm and a leg!).

And, to keep with the mood, here's some nice snow pictures.

Outside the oval office Feb 2010.

The cutest (and only) snow owl I've ever seen. :-)
